SGT. PEPPER® Tatarian Dogwood (Cornus alba ‘Verpaalen2’) is a colorful deciduous ornamental shrub valued for its variegated foliage, vibrant red winter stems, and multi-season landscape interest. This distinctive selection of Tatarian dogwood combines green leaves edged with creamy white and pink tones with an upright, branching growth habit. It provides ornamental color in mixed shrub borders, foundation plantings, woodland edges, and winter-interest gardens.
During spring and summer, SGT. PEPPER® Dogwood produces attractive green foliage with creamy-white margins and pink highlights, particularly on developing leaves. Small clusters of creamy-white flowers may appear in late spring, sometimes followed by pale berries. As autumn approaches, the foliage develops additional pink, red, and burgundy tones before dropping for winter.
After the leaves fall, the shrub's bright red stems become a prominent ornamental feature. The colorful branches create visual contrast against winter landscapes and are particularly noticeable when planted in groups. SGT. PEPPER® Tatarian Dogwood performs best in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil, although established plants can tolerate a range of garden soil conditions.
Each order includes 1 live SGT. PEPPER® Tatarian Dogwood supplied in a 3-gallon nursery pot (G3).
