Rheinland Astilbe (Astilbe japonica ‘Rheinland’) is a clump-forming herbaceous perennial admired for its soft pink flower plumes and attractive, finely divided green foliage. This Japanese astilbe cultivar brings delicate texture and seasonal color to partially shaded gardens, woodland borders, and mixed perennial plantings. Its feathery blossoms create a soft, airy appearance above the foliage.

During late spring to early summer, Rheinland Astilbe produces upright, plume-like clusters of small pink flowers. The blooms emerge above glossy, deep green leaves arranged in dense, mounding clumps. The foliage remains ornamental throughout much of the growing season, while the flower plumes may retain decorative texture after flowering. Rheinland Astilbe is particularly effective when planted alongside hostas, ferns, coral bells, and other moisture-loving shade perennials.

Rheinland Astilbe performs best in partial shade and fertile, humus-rich soil that remains consistently moist but drains well. It is less tolerant of prolonged dry conditions than many sun-loving perennials. Its compact, clumping habit makes it suitable for shaded borders, woodland gardens, moist perennial beds, and appropriately sized outdoor containers.

Each order includes 1 live Rheinland Astilbe supplied in a 1-gallon nursery pot (G1).
