Red Yucca (Hesperaloe parviflora) is an evergreen to semi-evergreen flowering perennial native to Texas and northeastern Mexico. Despite its common name, Red Yucca is not a true yucca. It belongs to the asparagus family (Asparagaceae) and is valued for its architectural foliage, colorful flower spikes, and ability to thrive in sunny, dry landscapes. Its naturally clumping growth habit makes it suitable for xeriscaping, rock gardens, desert-inspired landscapes, and ornamental borders.
During late spring and summer, Red Yucca produces tall, slender flower stalks bearing clusters of tubular blossoms in shades of coral-red, salmon-pink, and reddish orange. The flowers may continue appearing into autumn under favorable conditions and are especially attractive to hummingbirds and other nectar-feeding wildlife. Its narrow, blue-green to gray-green leaves form graceful, arching clumps that provide ornamental texture throughout much of the year. Fine, thread-like fibers may appear along the leaf margins.
Red Yucca performs best in full sun and well-drained soil. It tolerates sandy, rocky, and relatively poor soils and is highly drought tolerant once established. Unlike plants that require consistently moist growing conditions, Red Yucca generally prefers soil that drains readily between waterings. Its low-water requirements and distinctive foliage make it useful for water-wise gardens, sunny foundation beds, wildlife gardens, and outdoor containers with adequate drainage.
Each order includes 1 live Red Yucca plant supplied in a 1-gallon nursery pot (G1).
