Quaking Aspen (Populus tremuloides) is a North American native deciduous tree recognized for its distinctive fluttering leaves, smooth pale bark, and brilliant golden-yellow autumn foliage. Also known as Trembling Aspen or American Aspen, this ornamental shade tree produces rounded to broadly oval green leaves attached to flattened leaf stalks that allow the foliage to tremble in even a light breeze.

During spring and summer, Quaking Aspen displays fresh green foliage that creates a soft, shimmering appearance in the landscape. Its leaves transition to bright yellow and golden tones during autumn before falling for winter dormancy. Established trees may develop contrasting dark markings on their pale trunks, adding seasonal visual interest. Quaking Aspen also supports native wildlife and is an important component of many North American forest ecosystems.

Quaking Aspen performs best in full sun and prefers moist, well-drained soil, particularly in cooler climates. It is commonly used in naturalized landscapes, woodland gardens, wildlife plantings, and open areas where its spreading root system can be accommodated. This species naturally produces root suckers and may form colonies over time, making it better suited to spacious planting areas than confined garden beds.

Each order includes 1 live Quaking Aspen tree supplied in a 3-gallon nursery container (RP).
