Purple Pillar® Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus ‘Purple Pillar’) is a deciduous ornamental flowering shrub valued for its distinctive narrow, upright growth habit and colorful summer blossoms. Unlike many traditional Rose of Sharon varieties that develop broad, rounded forms, Purple Pillar® has a naturally columnar structure that makes it suitable for narrow garden spaces, vertical landscape accents, foundation plantings, and flowering screens.
From midsummer into early fall, Purple Pillar® Rose of Sharon produces hibiscus-like flowers in shades of lavender-purple to pinkish purple, accented by deep reddish-purple centers. Its blossoms contrast with green foliage and provide seasonal color during the warmer months. The flowers may attract bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other flower-visiting pollinators.
Purple Pillar® Rose of Sharon performs best in full sun and prefers well-drained soil with moderate moisture. Once established, it generally tolerates occasional dry conditions. Its upright, columnar habit makes it especially useful where horizontal planting space is limited. As a deciduous perennial shrub, it naturally loses its leaves and becomes dormant during winter.
Each order includes 1 live Purple Pillar® Rose of Sharon supplied in a 1-gallon nursery container (G1).
