Primo® ‘Black Pearl’ Coral Bells (Heuchera ‘Black Pearl’) is an ornamental perennial admired for its glossy, nearly black foliage, deeply ruffled leaves, and compact, mounding growth habit. Part of the Primo® collection, this distinctive coral bells variety brings rich, dark color and texture to shaded garden borders, woodland-inspired landscapes, mixed perennial beds, and decorative outdoor containers.
The plant produces rounded, heavily ruffled leaves with deep purple-black upper surfaces and contrasting rosy-purple undersides. Its dark foliage provides ornamental interest throughout much of the growing season and creates a striking contrast with silver, chartreuse, and green-leaved companion plants. In summer, slender flower stalks rise above the foliage, carrying small, pale pink to whitish blossoms that may attract visiting pollinators.
Primo® ‘Black Pearl’ Coral Bells performs best in partial shade, although it can tolerate additional sunlight in cooler climates when adequate moisture is available. It prefers fertile, well-drained soil with moderate, consistent moisture. Its naturally dense, rounded growth habit makes it suitable for garden edging, shaded patio containers, and foliage-focused landscape designs. Depending on winter conditions, the plant may retain some foliage or experience seasonal dieback.
Each order includes 1 live Primo® ‘Black Pearl’ Coral Bells plant supplied in a 1-quart nursery container (QT).
