Nova Zembla Rhododendron (Rhododendron ‘Nova Zembla’) is a cold-hardy broadleaf evergreen flowering shrub admired for its striking dark pink-red blossoms, glossy green foliage, and dense, rounded growth habit. This ornamental rhododendron adds vibrant spring color and year-round foliage interest to woodland gardens, shaded borders, foundation plantings, and mixed evergreen landscapes.

During mid-spring, Nova Zembla Rhododendron produces large, rounded clusters of deep pink-red to rosy-red flowers. Individual blossoms are funnel-shaped and may display darker spotting on the upper petals. Its dark green, leathery leaves can have slightly rippled margins, providing attractive texture throughout the year. The vivid flowers contrast beautifully with the evergreen foliage and may attract bees and other flower-visiting insects.

Nova Zembla Rhododendron performs best in partial shade and acidic, organically rich, well-drained soil. It prefers consistent moisture without prolonged waterlogging and benefits from protection against drying winds and intense afternoon sunlight. Known for its cold tolerance, this rhododendron is suitable for ornamental landscapes in many temperate regions and can be grown in appropriately sized outdoor containers with suitable acidic growing media.

Each order includes 1 live Nova Zembla Rhododendron supplied in a 3-gallon nursery pot (G3).

Approx. 15 inches tall at time of shipping.
