Lemony Lace® Elderberry (Sambucus racemosa ‘SMNSRD4’) is a deciduous ornamental shrub valued for its brilliant golden-yellow foliage, finely dissected leaves, and naturally mounded growth habit. Its delicate, lace-like foliage creates a soft, feathery texture that contrasts beautifully with darker green or burgundy-leaved plants. This colorful elderberry is especially well suited to mixed shrub borders, woodland edges, ornamental landscape beds, and foliage-focused garden designs.

New foliage emerges with attractive reddish tones before developing its characteristic bright golden color. The deeply cut leaves form a fine-textured mound of golden foliage, giving the shrub a distinctive appearance throughout the growing season. Its leaves are more deeply dissected than those of selections such as Sutherland Gold or Black Lace™ Elderberry. In spring, clusters of small, creamy-white flowers add seasonal interest, followed by ornamental red berries that may develop later in the growing season.

Lemony Lace® Elderberry grows best in full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. It generally develops its strongest golden foliage coloration with adequate sunlight, although afternoon shade can be beneficial in warmer climates. This cold-hardy shrub is an attractive choice for specimen plantings, mixed borders, and naturalistic landscapes where colorful foliage and fine texture are desired.

Each order includes 1 live Lemony Lace® Elderberry supplied in a 3-gallon nursery pot (G3).
