Laced Up® Elderberry (Sambucus nigra ‘Laced Up’) is a distinctive deciduous ornamental shrub valued for its finely dissected, nearly black-purple foliage and naturally narrow, upright growth habit. Its deeply divided leaves create a delicate, lace-like texture, while their rich dark coloration provides striking contrast against green foliage plants and flowering perennials.
During late spring to early summer, clusters of soft pink flowers appear against the dark foliage, creating an attractive two-tone display. The blossoms may attract bees and other pollinators. Unlike elderberries grown primarily for fruit production, Laced Up Elderberry is selected for its ornamental foliage, colorful flowers, and columnar form. Its upright habit makes it suitable for narrow planting spaces, mixed borders, foundation landscapes, and decorative garden accents.
Laced Up Elderberry performs best in full sun to partial shade and prefers fertile, well-drained soil with moderate moisture. Full sun generally encourages stronger dark foliage coloration. As a deciduous shrub, it naturally loses its leaves during colder seasons and resumes growth in spring.
Each order includes 1 live Laced Up Elderberry supplied in a 1-gallon nursery container (G1).
