Kwanzan Cherry (Prunus serrulata ‘Kwanzan’), also known as Kanzan Japanese Flowering Cherry, is a deciduous ornamental tree admired for its spectacular spring display of abundant, double-petaled pink flowers. The richly colored blossoms appear in clusters along the branches, creating a full, layered floral display. Its showy spring blooms make it a popular choice for ornamental landscapes, flowering tree collections, and garden focal points.

This Japanese flowering cherry develops an upright, spreading branching habit that creates an attractive, rounded to vase-shaped canopy as it develops. New foliage often emerges with bronze tones before becoming green during the growing season. In autumn, the leaves may turn shades of yellow, orange, and bronze, providing additional seasonal interest. Kwanzan Cherry is primarily grown for its ornamental flowers rather than edible fruit production.

Kwanzan Cherry performs best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. It prefers moderate, consistent moisture, especially while establishing its root system. This flowering tree is suitable for specimen plantings, front yards, ornamental borders, and other landscapes where its colorful spring blossoms can be appreciated.
