Black Truffle Cardinal Flower – 1 Live Perennial, Quart Size – Lobelia cardinalis ‘Black Truffle’

Black Truffle Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis ‘Black Truffle’) is an ornamental herbaceous perennial admired for its striking scarlet-red flowers and rich, dark purple to burgundy foliage. The vivid contrast between its blossoms and leaves creates a colorful focal point in perennial borders, rain gardens, and wildlife-friendly landscapes.

During summer, upright flower spikes produce tubular red blossoms that are especially attractive to hummingbirds. The plant develops an upright, clump-forming growth habit with elongated, deeply colored leaves. Flowering may continue into early autumn depending on climate and growing conditions.

Black Truffle Lobelia grows best in full sun to partial shade and prefers fertile soil with consistent moisture. It is particularly well suited to rain gardens, pond margins, moist perennial beds, and outdoor containers where reliable watering can be maintained. In hot climates, afternoon shade may help protect the foliage and flowers.
