Black Truffle Cardinal Flower – 1 Live Perennial, 1-Gallon Size – Lobelia cardinalis ‘Black Truffle’

Black Truffle Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis ‘Black Truffle’) is a striking herbaceous perennial valued for its vivid scarlet-red flowers and richly colored, dark purple to burgundy foliage. The contrast between the bright blossoms and deep foliage creates an eye-catching display in perennial borders, rain gardens, and wildlife-friendly landscapes.

During summer, upright flower spikes emerge above the foliage and produce tubular red blossoms that are especially attractive to hummingbirds. The plant forms an upright, clumping habit with elongated leaves that retain their dark coloration most effectively under suitable light conditions. Its flowers also provide seasonal interest in pollinator plantings.

Black Truffle Lobelia performs best in full sun to partial shade and prefers consistently moist, fertile soil. It is particularly suitable for rain gardens, pond margins, and garden areas that receive reliable moisture. In warmer climates, some afternoon shade can help protect the foliage and flowers from excessive heat.
