Bixby’s Northern Red Azalea – 1 Live Flowering Shrub, 3-Gallon Size – Rhododendron ‘Bixby’s Northern Red’

Bixby’s Northern Red Azalea (Rhododendron ‘Bixby’s Northern Red’) is an ornamental flowering shrub valued for its vivid red blossoms and cold-hardy character. Its colorful spring flowers bring a striking accent to shrub borders, woodland gardens, and foundation plantings.

This azalea develops a bushy, branching growth habit with green foliage that provides a contrasting backdrop for the flowers. The blossoms generally appear during spring, with flowering time varying according to local temperatures and climate. Foliage retention and seasonal appearance may also vary with growing conditions.

Bixby’s Northern Red Azalea prefers acidic, organically rich, well-drained soil with consistent moisture. Partial sun to partial shade is generally suitable, particularly in locations protected from intense afternoon sunlight. It works well in mixed azalea plantings and ornamental garden borders.
