Appalachian Blues Skullcap – Live Flowering Perennial – Scutellaria ‘Appalachian Blues’

Appalachian Blues Skullcap (Scutellaria ‘Appalachian Blues’) is an ornamental herbaceous perennial in the mint family (Lamiaceae), valued for its blue flowers and compact growth habit. Its delicate blossoms provide seasonal color above green foliage, making it suitable for perennial borders, naturalistic plantings, and mixed garden beds.

This skullcap is described as a compact selection with a spreading to mounding habit. Its flowers can attract bees and other pollinators, adding interest to pollinator-friendly gardens. The plant may also be suitable for woodland-edge settings where sufficient light and well-drained soil are available.

Appalachian Blues Skullcap generally prefers full sun to partial shade and soil with good drainage. Water requirements are moderate during establishment, with moisture needs varying according to temperature, exposure, and soil conditions.
